Internal Medicine Services

• Ultrasonography: This is a non-invasive means of imaging the chest and/or abdominal cavities, and provides information that is complementary to that acquired thru x-rays.
• Digital Radiography (x-rays): X-ray images acquired in a standard fashion, that can be digitally manipulated to improve visibility.
• Endoscopy: An anesthetic procedure in which rigid or flexible scopes are inserted into the nose, stomach, or intestines. Most often utilized to remove foreign objects and obtain samples in patients with chronic vomiting, diarrhea or nasal discharge.
• Laparoscopy:  A minor operative procedure in which we can view inside the abdominal cavity and obtain samples. Less invasive than surgery. Considered as an alternative to surgery when the goal is solely to obtain samples.
• Nutritional Support:  Our patients are often debilitated and in states of protein-calorie malnutrition. Placement of various kinds of feeding tubes is sometimes advised at the time of a diagnostic procedure to allow your pet to receive nutrition for a few weeks at home if he/she does not eat.
• 24 hour monitoring:  All VetCare patients receive around-the clock monitoring by trained Drs and nurses.
• CT/MRI scans:  These are anesthetic procedures which provide exquisite detail and can sometimes give us important information that ultrasound and x-rays cannot.
